Dr. Robert Brouillette is a Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, McGill University. He holds an Honorary Investigator appointment at the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC), Glen site, since 2018, recognizing his significant contributions to pediatric sleep disorder research and clinical practice. His work focuses on obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) in children, including diagnostic methods and outcomes of adenotonsillectomy.
Research Interests: Dr. Brouillette specializes in pediatric sleep medicine, particularly OSA diagnosis and management. His research explores airway obstruction, breathing control, and the role of tonsils/adenoids in sleep disorders. He coauthored a pan-Canadian consensus statement and developed the McGill Oximetry Score for OSA detection.
Notable Publications: Recent work includes studies on post-adenotonsillectomy apnea risks, nocturnal pulse oximetry consistency, and the impact of socioeconomic factors on childhood sleep apnea. Earlier contributions address respiratory issues in cerebral palsy and Prader-Willi syndrome, as well as diaphragm pacing technologies.
