Robert Boyers is Professor of English at Skidmore College, where he founded and edits the quarterly Salmagundi and directs the New York State Summer Writers Institute. He earned his BA from Queens College and MA from New York University.
His teaching encompasses fiction (EN 211), film (EN 217), modernist/contemporary poetry (EN 313/314), Victorian literature (EN 352), and politics in novels (EN 363). Research explores intersections of politics/literature, modernist poetry, film, Victorian culture, and education's role in society.
Publications include influential books analyzing identity politics, intellectual history, and authoritarianism in literature. Recent works critically examine academic culture and ideological conformity in The Tyranny of Virtue (2019).
