Robert Biddle is a Professor of Human-Computer Interaction in Carleton University's School of Computer Science. His research spans human and technical aspects of interactive systems, focusing on usable computer security, human factors in gaming and hypermedia, and collaborative software development processes. He directs the HOTSOFT research group investigating human-centered software engineering.
Educational credentials include PhD from University of Canterbury (1987), MMath from University of Waterloo (1979), and DipEd from University of Otago (1989).
Research integrates multiple domains: human-computer interaction for security interfaces, game design psychology, and agile development methodologies. Current security work examines phishing susceptibility through email interaction patterns and trust indicators.
Recent publications demonstrate emphasis on cybersecurity communication, user behavior analysis, and interface design for threat mitigation. Key themes include cognitive processing of security information and metaphor-based security education.
