Robert Bartlett is the W. A. Franke Professor of Law and Business at Stanford Law School, with a courtesy appointment as Professor of Finance at the Stanford Graduate School of Business. He is also a Senior Fellow at the Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research and Faculty Co-Director of the Rock Center for Corporate Governance. His research focuses on law and finance, including venture capital, corporate governance, and capital market regulation. He holds a B.A. and J.D. from Harvard University, both magna cum laude.
Professor Bartlett has held prior roles as the I. Michael Heyman Professor of Law at UC Berkeley, where he received the Rutter Award for Teaching Excellence. He co-founded Startup@BerkeleyLaw, a platform supporting entrepreneurs and investors in venture-backed startups. His work bridges legal and financial disciplines, addressing topics like ESG integration, algorithmic discrimination, and market microstructure innovations.
