Robert A. Margo is a Professor of Economics at Boston University and a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research. His work focuses on the economic history of the United States, particularly the growth of manufacturing in the 19th century, labor economics, and racial economic disparities. He holds a PhD from Harvard University.
Research interests include industrialization, urbanization, wage inequality, and the long-term impacts of technological change. His recent work examines mechanisms like mechanization and automation in historical contexts, as well as urban development patterns and gentrification dynamics.
