Robert A. Filback

Robert A. Filback is Professor of Clinical Education at the University of Southern California's Rossier School of Education, where he serves as co-chair of the Higher Education Concentration and chair of the Master of Arts in TESOL program. His academic leadership includes designing innovative degree programs and maintaining an active research agenda.

Filback's research examines higher education systems, digital learning environments, language policy frameworks, and democratic education practices. His work emphasizes cross-cultural educational design and institutional innovation in global contexts.

Publications consistently address educational transformation through online program quality, leadership development, language immersion, and social justice initiatives, with increasing focus on digital pedagogy and systemic reform since 2020.

Grants & Advising:
Co-PI for major grants including $3M Department of Education funding (2023-2026). Regularly chairs doctoral dissertations and advises graduate students in education leadership and TESOL.

Program Development:
Founded Rossier Democracy Project and led creation of the World Masters in Language Teaching, Global Executive EdD, online MAT-TESOL, and EdD in Organizational Change and Leadership programs.
