Rob Kuper is an Associate Professor in Landscape Architecture and Horticulture at Temple University’s Tyler School of Art and Architecture. He teaches undergraduate and graduate design studios and engineering courses, including grading, stormwater management, and ecological restoration. His research spans climate crisis mitigation through carbon emissions analysis in professional conferences, embodied emissions in landscapes, and human perception of time in designed environments.

- BS, Environmental Design, Auburn University, 1999
Rob’s research focuses on Attention Restoration Theory, climate crisis mitigation, and design-build pedagogy. He has extensively studied seasonal plant changes and their impact on landscape preference, as well as sustainable conference practices. His recent work analyzes travel-related emissions from academic conferences, while historical projects examine temporal perception in landscapes and green roof awareness.
The articles reflect expertise in environmental psychology, sustainability policy, and digital landscape modeling. Themes include carbon emissions reduction, phenological design, and interdisciplinary climate action. Key subfields span conference sustainability, restorative landscapes, and time zone analysis.
Rob co-directed award-winning design-build studios between 2012–2020 and actively participates in peer review and design juries. He serves as a faculty advisor at Temple University’s Ambler Campus, where he also manages invasive species in local reserves using hand tools.
