Rizal Muslimin is a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Architecture, Design and Planning, University of Sydney. His work bridges craft, architecture, and computational design, focusing on reinterpreting traditional Indonesian craft through digital methodologies. He holds a PhD in Design and Computation from MIT, an M.Arch from Institut Teknologi Bandung, and a B.Arch from Universitas Parahyangan.

His research revolves around Computational Making, Indigenous Computation, and the intersection of shape grammar with cultural design. He explores crafting logics across scales, from component design like brick and wooden joinery systems to full building projects such as the award-winning Mesjid Raya Sumatera Barat. His publications span generative design, structural rationalization, and ethnocomputational studies of Toraja glyphs and weaving patterns.
