Ritwika Sen is an Assistant Professor of Economics at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (LMU). She holds a PhD from Northwestern University (Kellogg School) and prior experience as an ODI Fellow with Rwanda's Ministry of Agriculture and the International Growth Centre in Uganda. Her research focuses on organizational and development economics, examining how firms and workers make decisions through surveys and personnel data. Key areas include knowledge coordination in production, policy effectiveness for productivity, and informal labor markets. She collaborates with firms, NGOs, and governments to test empirical hypotheses. Notable work includes analyzing Uganda's manufacturing productivity and policy reforms in East Africa. Her 2022 Econometrica paper highlights rental markets enabling small firms to adopt technology in developing economies. Policy contributions include briefs on post-COVID informal labor markets and trade costs in the EAC.
