Ritu Tripathi

Dr. Ritu Tripathi is an applied social and cross-cultural psychologist and Assistant Professor of Instruction at Northwestern University's School of Education and Social Policy (SESP). She teaches in the LOC undergraduate and Master’s programs, focusing on global leadership, negotiations, and cross-cultural management. Previously, she was a tenured Assistant Professor at the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (2010-2022), where she contributed to executive education and research. She holds a PhD in Social Psychology from the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), advised by Dr. Daniel Cervone, with a focus on cultural variations in motivation.

Education: PhD in Psychology (Social & Personality; Cross-cultural minor) from UIC (2010); MA and BA in Psychology from the University of Allahabad, India (1996, 1998). Notable awards include UIC’s prestigious Dean’s Scholar Award and the Dewang Mehta Foundation Award for Best Professor in HRM (2013).

Research interests include cultural psychology, organizational behavior, and human resource management. Her work examines motivation cross-culturally, leadership styles, and global team dynamics. Recent projects address survey methodology challenges, gig worker motivation, and cross-cultural attitudes toward euthanasia.

Service includes editorial roles at journals like Psychological Studies and Humanities and Social Sciences Communications, and leadership of IIMB’s Behavioral Sciences Lab (2016-2019). She has advised numerous executive education programs for global companies like Siemens and Bosch, with high teacher effectiveness ratings (e.g., 4.8/5 for online modules).
