Ritsuko Sullivan is a Lecturer in the Department of Eastern, Slavic, and German Studies at Boston College, specializing in Japanese language instruction. She has over 20 years of teaching experience across diverse institutions including Japanese junior high schools, Phillips Academy Andover, University of Massachusetts Boston, Fitchburg State University, and community education programs in Shanghai, China. Her pedagogical approach is grounded in L. S. Vygotsky’s sociocultural theory.
Research interests include applied linguistics with a focus on lexicon acquisition and error analysis in foreign language education. She joined Boston College in the 2010-2011 academic year and currently teaches courses such as EALC1221: Elementary Japanese I and EALC2222: Elementary Japanese II.
