Rita Maria Fabris

Rita Maria Fabris is a Tenure Track Researcher in Performing Arts at the Department of the Arts, University of Bologna, since October 2024. She teaches History of New Theatre in the DAMS Degree Course. Her research focuses on 18th-19th century theatrical dance history in Italy and Denmark, analyzing cultural policies, aesthetics, and reception. In contemporary arts, she explores community-based performance practices, integrating theoretical research with performative pedagogy and field projects emphasizing impact evaluation.

Current research examines the origins of direction in ballet production and theatre works of August Bournonville in Copenhagen and Stockholm. She is affiliated with the Associazione Filieradarte APS in Turin and serves on the board of the National Association DES (Dance Education Society), founded at the University of Bologna in 2001.
