Rita Chiesa is an Associate Professor in Work and Organizational Psychology at the Department of Psychology, University of Bologna. She has been a faculty member since 2006, serving as an Assistant Professor from 2010 to 2019 before her promotion to Associate Professor. She currently coordinates the Erasmus Mundus Master Degree in Work, Organizational and Personnel Psychology, demonstrating leadership in international academic programs.
Her academic foundation includes a PhD in Social, Developmental and Organization Psychology completed in 2007.
Dr. Chiesa's research centers on Vocational Psychology with critical focus areas including lifelong career development across diverse age groups, strategies for maintaining employability in evolving labor markets, and designing inclusive workplaces that accommodate multi-generational workforces. Her work specifically addresses vocational guidance methodologies and career counselling interventions to support professional transitions.
Her publications appear in high-impact journals including Journal of Managerial Psychology, Frontiers in Psychology, Journal of Counseling and Development, and Career Development International, reflecting her contributions to evidence-based practices in organizational psychology.
As an educator, she has lectured on Career Counseling since 2017 and Vocational Psychology since 2008 in international master's programs. Her professional consultancy with Ce.Trans since 2004 has significantly advanced vocational guidance practices through training programs, assessment tool development, and intervention effectiveness evaluations.
