Rita Barger is an Associate Professor in the School of Education at the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC). She previously taught middle school and high school mathematics, including gifted students, in the Hickman Mills School District.
- PhD in Mathematics Education from the University of Missouri-Columbia
- B.S. in Education with dual majors in Mathematics and Instrumental Music
- M.A. in Mathematics
- M.S. in Gifted Education
Her research and professional focus spans mathematics education, gifted education, and curriculum development. She has received notable recognition including being a state finalist for NASA's ill-fated Teacher in Space Program (1986), the Outstanding Post-Secondary Mathematics Teacher award in Missouri, and the Kansas City Spirit Award.
