Rina Ray is an Associate Professor of Finance at the CU Denver Business School, affiliated with the Center for Commodity Market Analysis at NMBU. She holds a PhD from Indiana University Bloomington, an MBA from Southern Methodist University, and a BTech in Chemical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur. Her research focuses on credit risk, household finance, human capital, and skilled immigration policy with significant public policy implications. She teaches financial management, commodities, and real options courses and actively mentors students.

Her research explores intersections between human capital, innovation, and credit risk, including studies on skilled immigration’s economic impact and novel risk management methods. Recent work proposes a VaR model outperforming standard commercial models. She has presented at major conferences like the Western Finance Association and European Finance Association.
Key awards include the 2017 CIBER Research Grant and 2009 Excellence in Research Award. She serves as a reviewer for top journals and conference chair for FMA meetings. Current research emphasizes policy-relevant topics like mortgage finance and innovation economics.
