Rim Lahmandi-Ayed is a Professor of Higher Education in Quantitative Methods at the Higher School of Statistics and Information Analysis (ESSAI), part of the University of Carthage in Tunisia. She also serves as Director of the UR MASE research unit, which she founded in 2014. Previously, she held the position of Director of ESSAI from 2011 to 2017, during which she established partnerships with French academic institutions and organized major events like the ESSAI Business Forum. Her academic progression includes a PhD from École Polytechnique (France, 1995), habilitation (2000), and full professorship (2005). She has supervised four doctoral theses and contributed to developing the Master's program in Economic Modeling and Econometrics.
Her research focuses on Industrial Organization, Game Theory, and Environmental Economics, with notable work on product differentiation, ecological labeling, and general equilibrium models. Key achievements include co-founding the CEAFE conference series and receiving the Second Prix du Meilleur Article at the 2018 EBES Conference. She has held visiting professorships at universities in France and Canada, and serves as an associate editor for the Journal of Public Economic Theory and Journal of Mathematical Economics.
Her teaching spans microeconomics, industrial organization, and environmental economics at various Tunisian institutions. She has led numerous research projects, including initiatives on water markets and R&D cooperation, and collaborates with international partners like Université Aix-Marseille and the CORE (Belgium). Her work bridges theoretical economics with practical applications, addressing issues like poverty, globalization, and sustainable development.
