Rikke Andreassen is a Professor in the Department of Communication and Humanities at Roskilde University, Denmark. Since August 2022, she has served as the PhD School Director for the Institute's PhD school. Her research spans interdisciplinary fields including media, communication, gender, race/ethnicity, sexuality, whiteness, and queer studies, with a particular focus on assisted reproduction and critical archival studies.

Her projects include the Danish Research Council-funded New Stories of Same-Sex Relations 1870-2020 (2022-2026), challenging historical narratives about LGBTQ+ acceptance, and the Nordic network Datafication, Data Inequalities and Data Justice (2018-2021), addressing AI's social justice implications. The New Media - New Intimacies project (2015-2018) explored social media's impact on personal relationships.
Recent publications analyze queer kinship, donor conception, and resistance in media, reflecting her expertise in queer temporalities, critical data studies, and historical relationships. She has authored books such as Mediated Kinship (2018) and Human Exhibitions (2015).
