معرفی
Prof. Rien van de Weijgaert is a Professor at the University of Groningen's Faculty of Science and Engineering, affiliated with the Kapteyn Astronomical Institute. His research focuses on cosmology, cosmic structure formation, computational topology, and the historical context of astronomical discoveries. Key areas include large-scale structure analysis, void galaxy dynamics, and the interplay between dark matter and star formation in cosmic filaments.
He leads the CAVITY survey, an integral-field study of void galaxies, and contributes to projects like the Fornax-Eridanus complex analysis. His work integrates N-body simulations and observational data to model galaxy distribution and cosmic web evolution. Over 100+ publications span cosmological simulations, void astrophysics, and interdisciplinary applications of geometry/topology in astronomy.
Prof. van de Weijgaert collaborates internationally on multi-wavelength surveys and supervises research in cosmic web dynamics. His research addresses fundamental questions about galaxy formation, dark matter distribution, and the evolution of large-scale structure.
