Dr. Rieke Hansen is a Professor for Open Space and Ecological Urban Design at the Institute of Open Space Development, Geisenheim University (Germany), since November 2019. She holds a background in open space and landscape planning and is a registered landscape architect. Her research focuses on designing multifunctional and resilient urban green infrastructure to achieve social and ecological benefits. Her work spans metropolitan regions in Germany, Europe, and the USA.
Key research projects include the BiodivERsA project URBES, the FP7 project GREEN SURGE, and the Horizon 2020 project proGIreg. Her approach emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration and knowledge exchange between academic research and practical applications.
