Rida Salam

Rida Salam is a Lecturer at the Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning at the University of Michigan. She co-directs ArcPrep, an architecture college-prep program, and teaches courses like ARCH 322: Architectural Design II and UD 712: Urban Design Studio I. Her work focuses on spatial justice, equitable urban development, and community engagement in design.

Research Interests center on leveraging design to address societal inequalities, transforming urban environments through inclusive practices, and integrating social dynamics into architectural frameworks. Her projects, such as the Fertile Ground Project and Ecoshed, emphasize sustainable infrastructure and cultural production.

Professional Practice includes her role as urban designer for Jackson’s Department of Planning and Development and her design firm 9XS Design, which uses grids as a foundation for spatial transformation.
