Rida Laraki is a CNRS Research Director in computer science at LAMSADE (Paris Dauphine University), with a PhD in Mathematics from Université Pierre et Marie Curie. His expertise spans game theory, social choice, economic theory, and operations research. He previously held a part-time professorship at École Polytechnique (2006–2017) and is currently an honorary professor at the University of Liverpool. He oversees the computer science doctoral program at Paris Dauphine and chairs the French Society for Optimization and Decision (SMAI-MODE).
His research focuses on developing fair voting systems, notably the Majority Judgment method, which addresses paradoxes in traditional electoral systems. He has authored influential works analyzing French and U.S. elections, advocating for more transparent decision-making frameworks. His 2011 book Majority Judgment with Michel Balinski is foundational in this field.
Laraki’s work intersects computer science, mathematics, and political science, emphasizing practical applications in jury scoring, competitions, and institutional governance. His recent publications defend majority judgment against critiques and explore its implementation in diverse contexts.
Professional activities include editorial roles in 3 international journals and leadership in academic organizations. His research bridges theoretical foundations with real-world electoral mechanics, aiming to enhance democratic processes through robust judgment-based systems.
