Richtsje Andela serves as Professor (Lector) at MCL Academy leading the Nursing Leadership & Research for Good Care lectorate. Her work bridges theoretical knowledge and clinical practice to advance nursing excellence through evidence-based frameworks and leadership development.
Her research prioritizes three interconnected domains:
- Clinical, Professional, and Moral-Ethical Leadership dimensions in nursing practice
- Integration of evidence-based practice (EBP) into daily clinical workflows
- Development of clinical reasoning competencies among nursing professionals
- Learning and development strategies for healthcare practitioners
Current initiatives include the Leadership in Nursing Practice project, where a Delphi study established the BN2020 training profile's leadership framework across clinical, professional, and ethical domains. This work directly informs competency development for practicing nurses.
Dr. Andela actively connects academic research with frontline nursing challenges through her clinical expertise as a registered nurse and PhD in nursing science.
