University of Texas Southwestern Medical Centerمعرفی
Richard Wynn is an Associate Professor in the Departments of Internal Medicine and Biochemistry at UT Southwestern Medical Center since 1994, with promotion to his current rank in 2006. He serves on the Medical School Admissions Committee and participates in medical school interviewing. His research focuses on metabolic enzyme regulation, particularly mitochondrial metabolism and protein complex stoichiometry.
Education: B.S. in Chemistry and Biology from McMurry University (Abilene, TX), followed by M.S. in Chemistry/Biochemistry and M.D. from Texas Tech University (Lubbock, TX). Postdoctoral training at UC Berkeley.
Research Interests: Investigating metabolic pathways involving branched-chain amino acids, pyruvate dehydrogenase complexes, and carbohydrate response element-binding protein (ChREBP). Work includes structural analysis of enzyme complexes, development of kinase inhibitors, and metabolic disease modeling.
Publications highlight studies on BCAA catabolism in heart failure, ChREBP nuclear trafficking, and enzyme inhibition strategies for metabolic disorders. Collaborations focus on therapeutic applications targeting mitochondrial enzymes and metabolic flux.
Labs: Involved with the Metabolic Phenotyping Core at UT Southwestern, supporting advanced metabolic analysis techniques.
