Richard Wallis

Dr. Richard Wallis is a Principal Lecturer and Associate Dean (Education and Student Experience) at the School of Education, University of Brighton. He has held key leadership roles including Deputy Head of School for Learning and Teaching and Assistant Head for Operations, and has been actively involved in curriculum design, staff development, and academic governance. He is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, reflecting his commitment to teaching excellence.

His research interests focus on higher education pedagogy, assessment methodology, and dialogic feedback, grounded in qualitative paradigms and interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA). He is a member of the Childhood and Education Research and Enterprise Group and approaches teaching through andragogic principles emphasizing self-direction, responsibility, and enquiry-based learning.

Dr. Wallis supervises doctoral students in areas related to student experience, assessment feedback, and IPA methodology. He also serves as an External Examiner for Basingstoke SCITT, Canterbury Christ Church University, and Roehampton University, contributing to academic quality assurance across institutions.
