معرفی
Richard Thomas is a Professor and Royal Society Research Professor at Imperial College London since 2005 and 2020 respectively, specializing in the intersection of theoretical physics and pure mathematics.
His research focuses on Mathematics of string theory, Algebraic geometry, Moduli problems, and Mirror symmetry, exploring geometric structures fundamental to string theory through advanced algebraic techniques. This work bridges high-energy physics and abstract mathematics, particularly in Calabi-Yau manifolds and derived categories.
Thomas has received significant recognition including:
- 2022 Fröhlich prize from the London Mathematical Society
- Election as Fellow of the Royal Society (2015) and American Mathematical Society (2018)
- 2010 Wolfson Merit Award and Philip Leverhulme Prize (2004)
He maintains extensive professional engagement through editorial boards of Selecta Mathematica and Geometry & Topology, external advisory roles at SISSA and École Normale Supérieure, and visiting positions at Harvard, Princeton's Institute for Advanced Study, and MIT.
