Richard Taylor is the Barbara Kimball Browning Professor in the School of Humanities and Sciences at Stanford University, holding a position in the Department of Mathematics. His work bridges number theory and algebraic geometry, with a focus on automorphic forms and Galois representations.
Taylor has taught courses including Galois Theory (MATH 121), Modern Algebra II (MATH 210B), and Topics in Number Theory (MATH 249A), advising doctoral students such as Stepan Kazanin, Daniel Kim, and Vaughan McDonald.
His research spans 2008–2023, emphasizing automorphy of l-adic representations, rigid cohomology of Shimura varieties, and connections between potential automorphy and Calabi-Yau varieties. Publications highlight his contributions to algebraic number theory and arithmetic geometry.
