Dr. Richard Riley is the Louis F. Tanner Distinguished Professor of Public Accounting at West Virginia University's John Chambers College of Business and Economics. He directs research for the Institute for Fraud Prevention and specializes in forensic accounting, fraud examination, and auditing. His educational background includes a PhD from the University of Tennessee, MPA from WVU, and BS from Wheeling Jesuit University.
Research interests encompass financial statement fraud detection, corporate governance, and forensic methodologies. He has published extensively on fraud theory, auditing standards, and valuation techniques.
Awards include the ACFE Educator of the Year (2008), AAA Innovations in Accounting Education Award (2009), and WVU Foundation teaching recognition. His contributions to fraud examination education include developing model curricula and leading MOOC initiatives.
