Richard Melloni Jr is a Professor in Psychology at Northeastern University's College of Science, specializing in Behavioral Neuroscience. His research focuses on the neurobiological mechanisms underlying aggression and anxiety, with emphasis on pharmacological influences and social stress effects during adolescence. Since 2021, his academic efforts have concentrated on teaching courses such as Clinical Neuroanatomy, Biological Psychology, and Neuropsychopharmacology.
Research interests include both basic science investigations into neural circuits modulating aggression and clinical studies identifying biological markers of maladaptive aggression in youth. He directs the Aggression Lab, examining how drug exposure and social stress impact brain development and aggressive behavior.
