Richard McKenna is a Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science at Stony Brook University. He holds an M.S. in Computer Science (2002) and B.S. in Industrial Engineering (1996). His research focuses on game programming education and curriculum development, leading initiatives like the Game Programming Specialization and annual competitions.
- Founder of SBU Game Programming Competition and coordinator of the Game Programming Specialization
- Teaches courses including CSE 380 (2D Game Programming), CSE 416 (Software Engineering), and SBU 102 (3D Modeling for Games)
Research interests emphasize integrating game development into academic curricula. He advises numerous student projects and leads the WolfieTools team for educational technology solutions. Awarded the 2014 Outstanding Undergraduate Education Award for contributions to teaching excellence.
