Richard Marks is a Professor of the Practice at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, holding dual appointments in the School of Data Science and Society and the Department of Computer Science. His research focuses on AR/VR, machine learning, and context-aware systems. He previously led the PlayStation Magic Lab at Sony PlayStation, contributing to innovations like the EyeToy, PlayStation Eye, Move, and VR systems. Marks has over 100 patents and earned a PhD in Computer Science from Stanford University (1996) and a BS in Avionics from MIT (1990).
