Richard L. Hasen is the Chancellor’s Professor of Law and Political Science at the University of California, Irvine School of Law (UCI Law). He specializes in election law, political science, and democracy studies, focusing on disinformation, digital speech’s impact on democracy, and electoral integrity. His work addresses challenges in American elections, including voter distrust, media manipulation, and tech policy.
Hasen authored influential books such as *Election Meltdown* (2020) and *The Voting Wars* (2012), and co-authored leading casebooks in election law. He received a $45,000 grant from Craig Newmark Philanthropies for his book project on 'Cheap Speech' and a $85,000 grant from the Knight Foundation for research on digital speech and democracy. His op-eds appear in *The New York Times*, *Washington Post*, and *Politico*, and he writes the widely cited Election Law Blog.
Education: B.A. (UC Berkeley), J.D., M.A., and Ph.D. (UCLA Political Science). Professional experience includes clerkship for Judge David R.
