Richard John Kenneth Taylor is a Professor of Organic Chemistry at the University of York, Department of Chemistry, since 1993. He specializes in organic synthesis, particularly in the total synthesis of natural products and the development of new synthetic methodologies. His research focuses on organometallic and organosulfur reagents, as well as catalytic processes for creating complex molecular structures.

Research Interests: His work emphasizes the synthesis of natural products such as ajudazol A, daphnezomine N, and grandisine B, alongside developing novel synthetic methods like copper-catalyzed arylations and silver-mediated spirocyclizations. He explores environmentally benign telescoped and cascade reactions, including tandem oxidation processes (TOP), to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
Publications: Taylor’s research spans over 30 years, with contributions to methodologies in heterocyclic chemistry, organometallic catalysis, and total synthesis. Recent work includes studies on dearomative cascades, radical spirocyclizations, and marine viral halogenases.
