Richard J. Fafara is a philosopher affiliated with the Adler-Aquinas Institute in Manitou Springs, Colorado. He has participated in the Jacek Woroniecki Memorial Lectures at the Catholic University of Lublin in Poland, delivering presentations during the 2010/2011 and 2014/2015 academic years.
Dr. Fafara received his MA and Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Toronto, Canada, where he attended Étienne Gilson's public lectures. His academic journey included graduate studies under Professor Ferdinand Alquié in Paris and a post-doctoral fellowship at the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology at the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw, specializing in 17th century Polish philosophy.
His scholarly work examines classical philosophy and Christian culture, with particular focus on Étienne Gilson's thought on atheism and Josef Pieper's perspective on justice. During the 2014/2015 lecture series, he co-presented with Professor Edward M. Macierowski on the topic 'Does Justice Need God?', analyzing the adequacy of both atheistic and Christian philosophical perspectives on the notion of justice.
Throughout his career, Dr. Fafara has taught philosophy at multiple institutions including the University of Toronto, University of New Brunswick at St. John, University of Saskatchewan, George Mason University, and Northern Virginia Community College, demonstrating his extensive experience in academic philosophy education.
