Richard Haynes is a Professor of Media Sport at the University of Stirling's Division of Communications, Media and Culture. He holds a PhD from the University of Strathclyde (1997) and has conducted extensive research on sport, media, and popular culture, funded by organizations including the AHRC, ESRC, and the Scottish Government.

He co-edits the Communication, Sport and Society Series for Peter Lang and advises on exhibitions like the British Library's 'Voice of the Fans.'
Recent work includes evaluating the Scottish Football Museum's 'Football for All' project and curating exhibitions like 'Hosts and Champions: Scotland in the Commonwealth Games.' He supervises doctoral students in sport documentaries, archives, and cultural histories.
