Richard Gash is an Associate Professor of Civil Engineering and Vice Dean for Resources at the United States Military Academy. He has taught mechanics and design courses in both Civil and Mechanical Engineering programs and advised award-winning student projects.
Education:
- B.S. in Civil Engineering (West Point, 1996)
- M.Sc. in Geophysics (University of Missouri at Rolla, 2000)
- M.Sc. in Civil Engineering (UCLA, 2006)
- Ph.D. in Civil Engineering (UCLA, 2015, focus: structural response to ground motion)
His research focuses on structural engineering mechanics, particularly seismic response analysis, and military engineering applications. He is a registered professional engineer.
Awards:
- Projects under his advisement won the MIT Soldier Design Competition
- Scott Clark Innovation Award
Gash served combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, held senior roles including Public Works Director in Qatar, and earned multiple military assignments across Engineer units.
