Richard Cornish is a Senior Lecturer at Birmingham City University specializing in Automotive Engineering with extensive experience in automotive research and development. His work focuses on developing test methods and models to capture practical knowledge and theoretical insights in vehicle systems.
His primary areas of expertise include:
- Modelling and Simulation
- Test and Measurement
- Product Perception
- Vehicle Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH)
Cornish has significant industry experience, having worked at Lucas Group Research developing mathematical models for fuel injection systems, headlamps, signal lamps, tyres and active suspension. He later moved to Leyland DAF and completed his PhD at Birmingham City University in vehicle noise, vibration and harshness.
He served as an external examiner at the University of Hertfordshire from 2016 to 2021. His consultancy work and student projects encompass applications across automotive, rail, building, and industrial sectors both in the UK and internationally. His research demonstrates strong connections between theoretical engineering principles and practical industrial applications.
