معرفی
Richard Chandler is a Professor of Statistics at University College London's Department of Statistical Science, where he has been since completing his PhD at UMIST in 1994. He served as Head of the Department from 2016 to 2021 and currently sits on the committee of the International Meeting series on Statistical Climatology. His research focuses on statistical methods for environmental sciences, including time series analysis, climate change impacts, uncertainty quantification, and ecological modeling.
- Education: PhD from UMIST (1994)
His research interests include:
- Analysis of time series and space-time data
- Climate change impacts on hydrology
- Uncertainty assessment in model outputs
- Nonprobability sampling in ecology
Recent articles highlight his work on climate model ensembles, precipitation downscaling, and biodiversity change. He has contributed to frameworks like VALUE for validating climate downscaling methods and co-authored influential books like Statistical Methods for Trend Detection and Analysis in the Environmental Sciences.
Awards/Honors:
- Fellow of the Royal Statistical Society
- Honorary Member, Institute of Atmospheric Physics (Beijing)
Grants/Projects: Led multidisciplinary research projects on natural hazards, risk assessment, and climate uncertainty. Collaborated on initiatives like the EuroCORDEX ensemble analysis and UKCP18 climate projections.
Labs/Teams: Active in UCL's interdisciplinary climate science and statistical methodology groups.
