Richard Branscomb

Dr. Richard Branscomb is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Engineering at the University of Northern British Columbia. He specializes in rhetoric, technical communication, and writing pedagogy, focusing on sustainability, accessibility, and antiracism in engineering contexts. His work emphasizes student-centered learning and globalized communication challenges.

Education: PhD in Rhetoric from Carnegie Mellon University. He coordinates technical writing curricula for the MASc in Engineering program and collaborates on community partnerships in northern BC. Languages spoken: English and French.

Research explores ethical communication frameworks addressing systemic harms, including white supremacist violence and far-right extremism. Publications analyze gun violence narratives and rhetorical strategies in political contexts. He currently does not accept graduate students but contributes to outreach initiatives and pedagogical innovation in engineering education.
