Dr. Richard Branch serves as a Visiting Professor at the Centre for Education Policy and Equalising Opportunities (CEPEO) within UCL's Faculty of Education and Society. Concurrently, he dedicates four days weekly to teaching sciences and physics at Lampton School, while supporting Initial Teacher Training through the London West Alliance Teaching School. His role at CEPEO allows him to explore research beyond his primary school responsibilities.
His research focuses on developing formative assessment tools for science education, including multiple-choice question banks and concept inventory tests. He is also engaged in applying theories such as cognitive load theory and dual-coding theory to curriculum and pedagogy. Beyond academia, Branch participated in parabolic flight campaigns with the European Space Agency, conducting zero-gravity physics experiments.
While no specific grants or awards are listed, his work bridges practical classroom needs with evidence-based educational strategies.
