Richard A. Miller

Richard A. Miller serves as Professor of Pathology at the University of Michigan and Director of the Paul Glenn Center for Biology of Aging, based in the BSRB building (3001 BSRB) at the University of Michigan Medical School campus in Ann Arbor.

His research program focuses on:

• Drugs that slow aging in mice (Intervention Testing Program)
• Long-lived mutant mouse models
• Cross-species comparative biology of aging
• Cellular stress resistance mechanisms
• Biomarkers and genetics of aging

Miller leads the Miller Lab, which maintains active research on pharmacological interventions in aging, evolutionary aspects of longevity, and stress response pathways. The lab collaborates with the NIA-funded Intervention Testing Program and produces foundational work in aging biology, including hard-to-find essays on aging biomarkers. His team investigates how cellular stress resistance pathways influence lifespan across species, with implications for extending healthspan in mammals.
