Reo Jones

Reo Jones, Ph.D., serves as Assistant Professor at the School of Nursing & Health Innovations, University of Portland, holding an M.S.N. from the University of San Francisco and a Ph.D. in Nursing from Oregon Health & Science University while pursuing a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) degree.

Her research pioneers nature-based clinical interventions for chronically ill patients with limited outdoor access, examining how forest tree terpene aromas and recorded nature stimuli reduce inflammation, chronic pain, and modulate nervous system activity through mixed-methods studies. This work fuses nursing science with environmental health, integrative healing, and social justice principles to create healing-centered care environments.

Since 2018, Dr. Jones has taught undergraduate nursing with an interdisciplinary approach informed by somatic movement and performing arts backgrounds. Her pedagogy emphasizes DEIA, embodiment, and student collaboration, reflecting her prior work in wellness centers and community organizations where she cultivated commitments to holistic care and social equity.
