René Matteotti

René Matteotti is a Full Professor of Swiss, European, and International Tax Law at the University of Zurich's Faculty of Law. He holds a Doctor of Law (summa cum laude) from the University of Bern and an LL.M. in Taxation from Northwestern University. His academic career includes tenure as an Assistant Professor and later a Full Professor at the University of Bern before joining Zurich in 2012. He also serves as Director of the Tax Law Institute and holds visiting professorships at institutions like New York University and Georgetown University.

Matteotti's expertise spans international tax policy, corporate taxation, VAT, and EU tax law. He advises Swiss federal and cantonal governments on tax reforms and international agreements, including OECD BEPS initiatives and the GloBE minimum tax. He is a frequent speaker at global tax conferences and has authored numerous publications on tax law developments.

He has received the Professor Walther Hug Prize (2004) and is recognized as a leading tax advisor by international rankings. His teaching includes advanced courses on corporate tax law, international tax law, and VAT at the University of Zurich.
