Renu Geetha Bai

Renu Geetha Bai is an Assistant Professor at the Estonian University of Life Sciences, affiliated with the Institute of Forestry and Engineering and the Chair of Biosystems Engineering. She holds a PhD in Chemical and Environmental Engineering from the University of Nottingham. With 14 years of research experience, her work spans biotechnology, nanomedicine, biomaterial synthesis, and anticancer research. She has held academic and research roles globally, including at institutions in India, Malaysia, UAE, Australia, and the USA. Her current research focuses on producing high-value biomolecules from microalgae, addressing sustainability, waste valorization, and circular economy challenges.

Education includes a PhD from the University of Nottingham (2016), an M.Tech in Nanomedical Sciences from Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham (2011), and a B.Tech in Biotechnology and Biochemical Engineering from the University of Kerala (2008).

Research Interests: Algal biotechnology, biorefineries, nanomaterials in drug delivery, environmental applications of microalgae, and sustainable resource utilization.

Awards include the Horizon 2020 Marie Curie Fellowship (2018), Golden Researcher Recognition, and multiple grants from Estonian Research Council and international bodies. She leads the Personal Research Grant PSG971 (2025–2030) and collaborates on projects like 'Accelerating Algae Product Developments in Baltic and North Sea' (€179,875).
