Renee Carrico

Renee Carrico is the Chair and Associate Professor of Psychology at Saint Michael's College. She holds a B.S. in Psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and both M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

Her research focuses on cognitive and perceptual-motor development in infants and young children, with particular emphasis on media literacy, attention mechanisms, and developmental resilience in adverse conditions. She teaches courses like Child Development, Children and Media, and Research Methods in Psychology.

Dr. Carrico was awarded the Major Faculty Award for Service in 2022 and has delivered keynote addresses on developmental resilience. Her work explores how children use knowledge and perception to interact with their environment, including the impacts of modern media devices.

Recent media engagements include a 2019 interview with the Burlington Free Press discussing smartphone effects on children's outdoor activity levels.
