Renate Schmitz-Gebel is a Lecturer at the Faculty of Society and Economics of RWTH Aachen University since 2016. A literary scholar and art historian with a master's degree from RWTH Aachen, she integrates academic research with community-based educational initiatives focused on cultural literacy and intercultural dialogue.
Education:

Research Interests: Her scholarship spans feminist history, critical race theory, and artistic representation, with documented projects on the "History of the New Women's Movement in Germany," "Racism and Right-Wing Extremism in the Aachen Region," and "The Situation of Female Artists in the Aachen District." She pioneers intercultural violence prevention through her two-decade implementation of "I-You-We-Without Violence" in schools and educator training, while advancing creative writing as a tool for linguistic empowerment and cultural understanding.
Teaching and Outreach: Within the Childhood Education program, she designs practical literacy initiatives including reading-aloud campaigns and National Reading Day coordination. Since 2018, she has cultivated expressive skills through the Creative Writing Workshop's playful environment, guiding students in public readings and diverse presentation formats to expand linguistic confidence.
Initiatives: She founded "zuWORTkommen – Coaching mit Kreativem Schreiben" to provide structured creative writing instruction, extending her freelance educational work beyond university settings into community-based learning spaces.
