Renate Pichler

Renate Pichler is an Associate Professor of Translational Urological Oncology at the Medical University of Innsbruck, Austria. Since 2014, she has headed the uro-oncology outpatient clinic at the Comprehensive Cancer Center Innsbruck (CCCI), specializing in testicular, kidney, penile, and bladder tumors within the University Clinic for Urology.

Education:

• Medical studies completed at the Medical University of Innsbruck
• Clinical PhD in Clinical Cancer Research (2017) on "New predictive biomarkers in predicting BCG response in bladder cancer"
• Habilitation (2017) on innovative concepts in bladder cancer diagnosis and follow-up

Research Focus: Her work centers on translational uro-oncology with emphasis on identifying predictive and prognostic biomarkers for bladder cancer and kidney tumors. She develops personalized medicine approaches by bridging laboratory discoveries with clinical applications, specifically targeting biomarker-guided therapies to improve treatment efficacy and patient outcomes in urological malignancies.

Clinical Leadership: As head of the CCCI uro-oncology outpatient clinic, she directs specialized care for genitourinary cancers while advancing research protocols that integrate biomarker validation into clinical decision-making frameworks for bladder cancer management.
