Reinhold Sackmann is a Professor at the Institute of Sociology within the Faculty of Philosophy I at Martin-Luther-Universität Halle-Wittenberg since 2004. His work focuses on social structure analysis, demographics, and social cohesion, particularly in the context of life course sociology, intergenerational politics, and urban development. He has led projects in collaborative research centers such as SFB 186 and SFB 597, and served as spokesperson for the Research Institute for Social Cohesion in Halle (2019–2023).
