Reinhard Blomert

Dr. Reinhard Blomert is a Researcher at the WZB – Social Science Research Center Berlin since 2007, where he also serves as editor of the journal Leviathan. He holds a Dr. rer.pol. habil. from TU Dresden (2001) and a Dr. rer.pol. from FU Berlin (1987). His research focuses on Civilization Theory, Economic Sociology, and Financial/Social History. Notably, he has held visiting professorships at the Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz (2006, 1999–2003) and the Université de Paris X-Nanterre (2001, 2005).

• Education: M.A. in Sociology, Economics, and Law from Heidelberg University (1979), followed by advanced research at FU Berlin and TU Dresden.
• Research stays include the Maison des Sciences de l'Homme (Paris, 2002–2003), Keele University (UK, 1999), and institutions in the U.S. (1994).

His work bridges historical and theoretical analyses of economic systems, intellectual movements, and institutional developments. Recent publications include monographs on Adam Smith, Keynes, and Weimar Republic dynamics, alongside contributions to debates on financial globalization and capitalist critique.

Blomert co-edits the collected works of Norbert Elias and contributes to sociological discourse through editorial roles and interdisciplinary research projects.
