Reimo Võsa-Tangsoo (b. 1976) is an Associate Professor (0.5 position) and Head of Department at the Department of Photography within the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Estonian Academy of Arts. He has been affiliated with the institution since 2003 and holds dual roles as Head of Curriculum. His artistic practice explores themes of gamification, materiality transitions, and the interplay between digital virtuality and real-world experience.
Educated at the Estonian Academy of Arts, he earned his Master's degree in Photography in 2011. Key projects include solo exhibitions at Hobusepea and Draakon galleries in Tallinn, Tartu Kunstimaja, and Greifswald, Germany. Notable works include Immediate Effort, Test System 1.1, and Nostalgia/Desires.
His recent work Mängu mateeria / the Matter of Play (2025) investigates the materiality of earlier projects through 3D-printed replicas and augmented reality interfaces. Collaborations include curating Reversals with Anu Vahtra. Technical experimentation with spatial sound, kinetic light, and AR underscores his exploration of liminal spaces between reality and virtuality.
