معرفی
Reidar Lund is a Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Oslo, where he is affiliated with the Section for Chemical Life Sciences - Biomolecules, Bio-inspired Materials and Bioanalytics. His research focuses on soft matter and biomaterials, with expertise in polymers, colloids, surfactants, peptides and proteins.
Dr. Lund received his PhD from Forschungszentrum Julich/Universität Munster (Germany) in 2004, followed by postdoctoral positions at Forschungszentrum Julich (Germany, 2004-2006), University of Oxford (UK, 2004), Centre for Materials Physics (CSIC)/University of the Basque Country (Spain, 2006-2011), and University of California, Berkeley (USA, 2011-2013).
His research interests span soft matter physics and biomaterials science, with particular focus on:
- Thermodynamics and structure of self-assembled soft and biological matter
- Lipid membranes and their interactions with surfactants and surface active peptides
- Nanomedicine applications, particularly encapsulation and release in polymer-, peptide-, or peptoid-based nanocarriers
- Antimicrobial peptides: mechanisms and interactions with model cell membranes
- Rapid kinetics and dynamics of transitions, nucleation and molecular transport in self-assembled systems
Analysis of Lund's recent publications (2023-2025) reveals a strong focus on antimicrobial peptide-membrane interactions, complex coacervation for drug delivery, and structural characterization of soft matter systems using scattering techniques. His work bridges fundamental soft matter physics with biomedical applications, particularly in antimicrobial therapy and nanomedicine. A significant portion of his research employs small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) and other advanced characterization methods to study molecular-level interactions.
Dr. Lund holds several notable positions and honors:
- Chair of NKS Makro, the macromolecular section of the Norwegian Chemical Society
- Member of the Beamline Advisory Board for evaluation of proposals at the Heinz Maier-Leibnitz Research Center (FRM II) in Garching, Germany
- Co-chair of the Norwegian Neutron Scattering Association (NoNSA)
- Responsible for the SAXS instrumentation at the national RECX lab
He is actively involved in multiple research groups including Bio3 - Chemical Life Sciences, the Group for Soft Matter & Scattering Methods, the Hylleraas Centre for Quantum Molecular Sciences, and PX-Oslo – UiO Structural Biology Core Facilities. His work demonstrates strong international collaboration, with publications featuring researchers from institutions across Europe and North America.
